Corporate Social Responsibility

We take Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) extremely seriously here at The Mermaid and have a clear strategy in place. It governs every area of our work, including our impact on the environment, the communities where we operate and our role as a responsible employer.

Our CSR policy goes beyond our statutory obligations and has been shaped by our wish to improve current and future quality of life for our customers, colleagues, suppliers and the wider community. The two pillars of our policy are the environment and equal opportunities.

Our environmental commitment

We are committed to improving our environmental performance and reducing our environmental impact whenever and wherever possible. This includes policies to:

  • Recycle materials such as paper, cardboard, toner cartridges, computer items, wood, metal, kitchen fats and oils
  • Use low energy light bulbs
  • Use environmentally safe and sustainable energy sources whenever practically possible
  • Conserve resources through careful planning and efficient use
  • Work with our suppliers to ensure they too are doing all they can to reduce environmental impact of their businesses.
