Partnerships

Here at The Mermaid, we realise the importance of learning from the experiences of others in our industry. To help us do that, we are active members of numerous Associations and industry bodies.

Meetings Industry Association

The MIA is the UK’s principle trade association for the conference, meeting and events industry. It exists entirely for the benefit of its members and their customers. The Association’s main aims are to encourage and support excellence and raise ethical standards within the industry. As a member of the MIA, The Mermaid has agreed to adhere to the Meetings Magna Carta, a collection of the best practice principles that are at the heart of what the MIA stands for. A full version of the MIA Meetings Magna Carta is available on their website.

BACD

BACD is a trade association representing conference destinations and offering advice, research, education and networking. As part of their affiliate programme – which provides additional information and resources such as the annual British Conference Venus Survey – we are able to keep up to date the latest trends and keep our clients at the cutting edge.

Visit London

Visit London is the official visitor organisation for London and offers world-class marketing expertise. Their partnerships programme is aimed at all businesses and provides a range of benefits not only for partners such as The Mermaid, but also for our visitors.

HBAA

The HBAA represents a collective industry voice for both agents and hotels and venues for the best practice in the procurement and booking of accommodation, conferences, events and training sessions.

AIM

The Mermaid is delighted to confirm that they have passed the entry process and working towards the Silver Level of AIM which provides the meetings industry and its buyers with a universally recognised indicator of quality for meetings space and services. AIM is relevant, not only to hotels, but to conference centres, all other styles of venue and very importantly, meetings industry suppliers. The scheme is effective because it encourages continuous improvement across three levels, Entry, Silver and Gold. Achievement of each is dependent on attainment. Entry level is compulsory for all MIA members.
